Her beekeeping journey has led to memberships in the Virginia Beekeepers Association and the Beekeepers Guild Of Southeast Virginia. Judith has also worked with several non-profit organizations, led several educational programs at local schools, and worked to create a community garden.
Growing up in North Carolina, a state known for its rich farmlands, Judith (The Queen of Hampton Roads Honey) was immersed in a love for agriculture at a young and tender age. In 2009 while working with Operation Spring Plant, a non-profit organization that provides resources and training to minority farmers and landowners, Judith developed a love and respect for bees. She was intrigued by the role that bees play not only in agriculture but within the entire ecosystem as pollinators who are pertinent to the existence of several species. This passion led to the creation of Hampton Roads Honey.
Her beekeeping journey has led to memberships in the Virginia Beekeepers Association and the Beekeepers Guild Of Southeast Virginia. Judith has also worked with several non-profit organizations, led several educational programs at local schools, and worked to create a community garden.
Through beekeeping, Judith finds peace and joy. She still gets excited watching her bees leave and return to their hives with their legs full of pollen, harmoniously working together to fulfill their individual roles within the hive just to produce something as beautiful and sweet as honey.
People say that Hampton Roads Honey has the best honey they have ever tasted. Why? The answer is simple. Judith surrounds her bees with love and that love is transferred into her hives and can be tasted in every jar.
Thank you for your support. We invite you to taste the love.
Our mission is to protect and strengthen the plight of the decline of the bee population and to provide quality products and tips to benefit the household.
Certificates and organizations I have attended and graduated from.
Teaching workshops or teaching students, I have made it my mission to educate and inform. I’ve traveled to schools such as the Citizen School Citizen Teacher, where they equip young people with the skills, access, and beliefs needed to thrive as students and succeed as adults in the modern world. As a volunteer citizen teacher, I lead a 10 -week apprenticeship on the topic of agriculture and gardening. We created a school garden, planted a school tree, visited neighboring gardens in the community, discussed opportunity and careers in agriculture, and did activities in relation to agriculture. (Location: Henderson Middle School, North Carolina)
As we know and experience, everything starts with agriculture. Thus, our animals and insects play a huge role in this industry. As a beekeeper I have learned the ends and outs of bee keeping and how it affects us personally and worldwide. We learn that bee’s pollination allows things to grow so that we can have food, clothes, furniture, and almost anything we can think of. Is there anything that we know of that doesn’t come from some form of agriculture? As far back as 7000 B.C.wild honey was collected and eaten. Thus, bee pollinators are crucial to our ecosystem providing a third of our food source. It has been called liquid gold providing sweetness and therapeutic values. Moreover, honey is a wonderful nutritious and scented ingredient in beauty products and huge popularity in culinary arts. Honey has a prestigious past. Therefore, I’m dedicated in teaching and learning about growing global concerns over food security and environmental changes has open the eyes to agriculture issues, we provide awareness, education, resources and natural products in the efforts to bring further understanding and support in saving our bees.
